Shahid Kapoor’s onscreen persona has always been one of an impressive chart. From the critically-acclaimed movie Haider to Udta Punjab and now as the rebel, Kabir Singh! The chameleon of an actor however dropped a bomb about what his onscreen persons demands him to go to and it is certainly not a charming or should we say, healthy one?
Sitting down with Mumbai Mirror, the actor spoke about the movie that revolves around a medical student who has anger management issues and after a failed relationship, indulges in alcoholism. “I don’t endorse smoking at all. However, the role required it, as the protagonist uses it to channel his angst and rage. It wasn’t easy, and it came to a point where I smoked almost 20 cigarettes a day. It would take me close to two hours to shower and get rid of the smells before I could return home to my children’’ he stated.
Opening about his role in the movie, Shahid in an earlier interview also spoke about why chose to do this film. "I usually don’t watch too many films in Telugu and it surprised me with its tonality, rawness, simplicity and the fact that it was so real and believable. The character is very fascinating for me as an actor because the emotional arc... is very original. I loved it and Vijay Deverakonda, who played Arjun, did it so well," he had said.
Helmed by Sandeep Vanga and bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar, Kabir Singh will see Kiara Advani as the love interest of Shahid along with Murad Khetani, Kishan Kumar and Ashwini Varde. The movie will hits the theatres this June 21.
