Shahid Kapoor has started the preparations for Jersey in full swing and now dad Pankaj Kapur too has joined the cast pf the sports drama, a Hindi remake of a Tamil film of the same name starring Vijay Deverakonda. The film will mark the re-union of Pankaj and Shahid four years after Shaandaar.
According to a source clise to the development, Pankaj will play menor to Shahid’s character and will also be a strong pillar of support to him. Tinnanauri, too, is thrilled to work with the 65-year-old actor said, “Pankaj sir is such a great actor. We have all grown up watching his work. To be able to direct him is a great honour and I know that he fits the role of a mentor perfectly’ the director added.

Mrunal Thakur meanwhile has been roped in to play Shahid’s love interest in the film. The film is set in and around the Union Territory during the mid-90s and will kick off in a one of the cricket stadiums there. The team will be shooting at real locations, including a row house in the heart of the city, which will be Shahid’s home in the film.
Shahid recently took to his Instagram to share a photo of himself holding a cricket bat. He captioned his post as "#jersey the prep begins." Take a look below.
"Not just because he is my son, but as a colleague, as an actor, I could see the potential in him even 10 years back at the time when he was only being judged as a good-looking chocolate hero," Kapur, has earlier said.
Talking about his upcoming film, Shahid had earlier told IANS, "It took me some time to decide what to do next after 'Kabir Singh'. But the minute I saw 'Jersey'. I knew I wanted it to be my next.
