The trailer of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's upcoming film, Shikara has finally hit the internet. The film shows how the Kashmiri Pandits were treated when they had to flee from Kashmir and take refuge elsewhere. The trailer begins with a young couple witnessing a Kashmiri Pandit's house being burned down. Their world turns upside down when thousands of Pandits are forced to leave their land and their only hope is love. The trailer also shows instances of violence that the couple witnesses and experiences.
The film stars newcomers Sadia and Aadil Khan in the lead roles and captures the story that chronicles the 1990s exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the valley.
Prior to the trailer release, the makers shared a poster and clip featuring images of many bedraggled men and women clutching their belongings. The teaser clip has the film's namesake, a shikara (a wooden boat found at the Dal lake and other water bodies around Kashmir), superimposed on the image of the people.
