New Delhi:

Ayushmann Khurrana is back to the silver screens with another 'out of the box' film, Shubh Mangal Jyada Saavdhan. The film has managed to set the cash registers ringing on its opening day. It has earned Rs 9.55 crore on its first day despite competition from Vicky Kaushal starrer Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the first day box office collection of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan on Twitter.

''#ShubhMangalZyadaSaavdhan fares very well on Day 1... #Delhi-#NCR, #Punjab perform best... #Mumbai picks up... Brand #AyushmannKhurrana + #MahaShivratri partial holiday contribute... Important to score on Day 2 and 3... Fri ₹ 9.55 cr. #India biz. #SMZS,'' he tweeted.

However, the film failed to beat the opening day box office collection of Bala and Dream Girl. While Bala earned 10.15 Cr on opening day, Dream Girl collected Rs 10.05 Cr on the first day.

The plot of the film revolves around the same-sex relationship and Ayushmann is seen playing the role of a gay for the first time opposite Kota Factory star Jitendra Kumar. The film also features Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta, Manurishi Chaddha, Sunita Rajwar, Maanvi Gagroo, Pankhuri Awasthy and Neeraj Singh in pivotal roles. Bhumi Pednekar has also made a special appearance in the film.

Ayushmann Khurrana recently shared his excitement for his role, "It is a beautiful story told in the quintessential Aanand L Rai style of filmmaking that will touch your hearts and leave a smile on your face." He further added, "It is one of the most brilliant films that I have read in a long time and it handles the subject of homosexuality really sensitively. It is a pleasure to collaborate again with the master storyteller of our times. It is an out and out entertaining film that will also make you think and that’s the hallmark of good cinema."

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan released on Friday alongside Vicky Kaushal's Bhoot. Bhoot has raked in Rs 5.10 Cr on its opening day. The film is based on a true accident that took place in Mumbai, and narrates the story of a couple on an abandoned ship lying static on a beach.
