Shubh Mangal Saavdhan Box Office Collection Day 2: Ayushmann Khurrana's Film Earns Rs 20.63 Crore

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar in lead roles, is doing a fab job at the box office. The film has earned Rs 11.08 crore on its second day, taking the total collections to Rs 20.63 crore. On Friday, the film earned Rs 9.55 crore. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office collection of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan on Twitter.

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is the fourth highest opening Bollywood film of the year 2020 after Tanhaji The Unsung Warrior, Love Aaj Kal and Street Dancer 3D. Comparing the film with other highest openers of the year, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on Twitter, “Top 5 Day 1 biz - 2020 releases...1. Tanhaji Rs 15.10 cr, 2. Love Aaj Kal Rs 12.40 cr, 3. Street Dancer 3D Rs 10.26 cr. 4. Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan Rs 9.55 cr. 5. Malang Rs 6.71 cr India biz. #Hindi films.''

However, the film failed to beat the opening day box office collection of Ayushmann's previous films - Bala and Dream Girl. While Bala earned 10.15 Cr on opening day, Dream Girl collected Rs 10.05 Cr on the first day. 

Film Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is based on same-sex relationship and has received positive response from the audience as well as critics. Besides, US President Donald Trump has also lauded the film for its subject on gay rights. Trump retweeted a tweet from a British gay activist Peter Tatchell praising the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer.

"Great!" the US president wrote as he retweeted a post of the LGBTQ+ activist Tatchell, who expressed his support for the ground-breaking movie.

Elated by Trump's tweet, Ayushmann said, "It was great to see a reaction from US President Donald Trump. I certainly hope and wish that this comment is President Trump's gesture of outreach towards the LGBTQ community and that he will persistently and constantly work towards upholding LGBTQ rights in his country."

In the film, Ayushmann is seen playing the role of a gay for the first time opposite Jitendra Kumar. The film also features Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta, Manurishi Chaddha, Sunita Rajwar, Maanvi Gagroo, Pankhuri Awasthy and Neeraj Singh in pivotal roles.

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan released on Friday alongside Vicky Kaushal's Bhoot. Bhoot has raked in Rs 10.62 cr in just two days. The film is based on a true accident that took place in Mumbai, and narrates the story of a couple on an abandoned ship lying static on a beach.
