Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan Box Office Collection Day 9: Ayushmann's Film Crosses Rs 50 Crore Mark

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar in lead roles, is doing a decent job at the box office. The film has collected Rs 50.12 crore till now. Film critic shared the box office figures on Twitter and wrote, ''#ShubhMangalZyadaSaavdhan witnesses an upward trend on [second] Sat... Crosses ₹ 50 cr... Stronger hold on [second] Sun should place it in a comfortable position [vis-à-vis its economics]... [Week 2] Fri 2.08 cr, Sat 3.25 cr. Total: ₹ 50.17 cr. #India biz. #SMZS.''

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan opened with Rs 9.55 crore on February 21, and went on to make Rs 11.08 crore and 12.03 crore on first Saturday and Sunday respectively. In its first week of release, the film had made Rs 44.84 crore. Ayushmann-starrer is the fourth highest opening Bollywood film of the year 2020 after Tanhaji The Unsung Warrior, Love Aaj Kal and Street Dancer 3D. However, the film failed to beat the opening day box office collection of Ayushmann's previous films - Bala and Dream Girl. While Bala earned 10.15 Cr on opening day, Dream Girl collected Rs 10.05 Cr on the first day.

The film is about a homosexual couple, played by Ayushmann and Jitendra. The film shows how this couple fights their family to gain their acceptance. It also stars Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta who play Jitendra's parents in the film. Sunita Rajwar and Manu Rishi Chadha play Jitendra's aunt. The film also stars Maanvi Gagroo, Pankhuri Awasthy and Neeraj Singh in pivotal roles.

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan was released alongside Vicky Kaushal starrer Bhoot: The Haunted Ship. The latter has also crashed at the box office. Bhoot has raked in merely Rs 26 crore in nine days.
