Indian rapper and singer Taran Kaur Dhillon aka Hard Kaur sacked the Best India Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2017 for her track ‘All Star Anthem’.
On winning the coveted award, she said, "I'm super thankful to God, my wonderful fans, family and friends who have always believed in me and made this happen by voting for me all over the world. This award means so much not just because it's for a hip hop project, but also because I've never received an award from the Indian or Bollywood music industry for the work that I've done’’.
She further added, "I'm here because of the people who've always supported me. It's once again confirmed that it doesn't matter where you come from, whether you're a boy or a girl, nor the colour of your skin or your size can ever stop you from achieving your biggest goals. You just have to work hard and make it happen and God will be with you. I'm very thankful’’.
The 38-year old singer reveals about her journey starting from the inception of the song from the recording studio to its release. She even speaks about the struggle in getting funds from the music labels
In an interview with Mid-Day, she said, "Many music companies refused to support me because there's a misconception about my capability. I had to fund it from my pocket. She stood vindicated when the song from the album, The Rising Mixtape, became a chartbuster. It released on my label, Future Records, and went to No 1 on iTunes the day it released’’.
Hard Kaur has also sung peppy numbers in films like ABCD, Patiala House and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.
