Sonam Kapoor, who is known for wearing her heart on the sleeve has opened on molestation and revealed that she too was a victim of the same at the age of 13.
The diva has not just won hearts with her fashionista statement but also with her feminist approach.
A true feminist, Sonam spoke about the incident and raised her voice for the idea that a girl has the right to live the way she wants.
She even stated that there is no safe place for women, however, it is important for the ladies to raise the voice instead of indulging in self-guilt.
“Before I became a celebrity, I was just a regular pretty girl in public. This happened when I was at a movie hall. I was groped by a guy who I couldn’t see in the dark. I was only 13 years old and deeply disturbed by the whole episode," Sonam said during her interview to a leading magazine.

The 'Neerja' actress also spoke about how she dealt with the depression she encountered post the incident.
"I remember going to my teacher and school counsellor, and telling them about it. They said that everybody is groped; that groping is not molestation. They thought rape was molestation. Even at 13 I knew what it was—that if somebody gropes you or squeezes your breasts, it is molestation. I spoke to my mum about it in order to deal with it," she added
Sonam also stated, "The level of awareness in our schools is so low; there is no sex education and teachers are not equipped to handle such cases. Our education system just does not know any better. Girls slip into depression. They blame themselves and it’s a horrible place to be in."
On the work front, Sonam Kapoor is currently busy with her sister Rhea's upcoming production 'Veere Di Wedding'.
Helmed by Shashanka Ghosh, the movie will also star Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania in pivotal roles.
'Veere Di Wedding' will hit the floors in May this year.
