Soorma: Taapsee Pannu wraps up India schedule of Diljit Dosanjh starrer

Taapsee Pannu is through with the India schedule of sports biopic, "Soorma". The 30-year-old actor took to Twitter to announce the news.

"And that's a wrap for India schedule of #Soorma. Closing in towards the final pack up call and ready to present to you this gem of a story on #29June2018," Taapsee wrote.

Directed by Shaad Ali, the film is a biopic on former Indian hockey captain Sandeep Singh with Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role.

For the uninitiated, renowned hockey player Sandeep Singh was seriously injured after being hit by an accidental gunshot aboard Shatabadi train while on his way to join the national team due to leave for the World Cup in Germany two days later.

He was almost paralysed and in a wheelchair for two years. Singh not only recovered from that serious injury but also established himself again in the team as he took over as the captain of the Indian national team in January 2009 and under his captaincy, the Indian team managed to clinch the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in 2009 after defeating Malaysia. Singh was also the top goal scorer of the tournament.

In 2010, he was conferred with the Arjuna Award.

Soorma is slated to release in June 2018.
