While the film is getting great response at the box office, it received mixed reviews from film critics. The film is about India and Pakistan being at loggerheads with each other through the medium of dance. The film also features Nora Fatehi, Dharmesh, Raghav Juyal and other dancers.
In an interaction with Mumbai Mirror, Varun opened up about reuniting with co-star Shraddha Kapoor and his dancer partner Nora Fatehi. He said: ''Nora and I share an exciting chemistry, hers is a special track in the film. The banter between Shraddha and me will bring a lot of laughs, the way it is for real,” he said earnestly.''

Director Remo D'Souza recently said Varun and Shradda have impressed him with his dance skills and fans have every reason to be excited about the film. ''The story of Street Dancer is close to my heart. The way Varun, Shraddha, and I are bringing the story alive on the screen, the audience will become a fan of the film. It is an inspirational story and a family entertainer,'' Remo said, speaking to IANS.
''Dance and acting both are performing arts. The more you do it, the more you mature. That is what happened to Varun and Shraddha. I am impressed by Varun's maturity as a dance performer. Of course, we have collaborated before, and we know how good he is as a dancer. But in our upcoming film, he has really taken it to the next level,'' he added.
The film released alongside Kangana Ranaut's Panga. In Panga, Kangana is playing the role of a retired kabaddi player, who returns to the sport after a seven-year break. While Jassie Gill plays Kangana's character Jaya Nigam's husband Prashant, Neena Gupta and Richa Chadha play her mother and mentor, respectively.
