Student of the Year 2, starring Tiger Shroff and newbies Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria in prominent roles, has been receiving lukewarm response at the box-office. The film has managed to earn Rs 12.06 crore on Friday. SOTY 2 has emerged as Tiger Shroff's second highest opener so far. His 2018 film Baaghi 2 opened up at Rs 25.1 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, ''Student Of The Year 2 puts up a fairly good total on day 1... business slowed down towards evening shows... Saturday and Sunday crucial... Substantial growth - especially at cineplexes - is essential for a healthy total... Friday India business is Rs. 12.06 crore."

Taran Adarsh also tweeted that SOTY 2 is the fifth highest opening Bollywood film after Kalank, Kesari, Gully Boy and Total Dhamaal.Â
Ananya had recently told IANS in an interview, ''I hope people watch the film and then make judgement. I will be okay with whatever judgement they’d make after that.''
Student of the Year 2 marks the Bollywood debut of Ananya along with Tara Sutaria. The film hit the scrrens on May 10, 2019. It is the second edition of one of Johar’s most successful flicks, Student of the Year. The film marked the successful debut of Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, and Sidharth Malhotra.
