Tanushree Dutta, who has come forward for speaking up about being a victim of sexual harassment by veteran actor Nana Patekar, has alleged Raj Thackeray for his support to Nana to benefit a political mileage. Tanushree has even claimed that Raj, president of Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS), had sent goons to pelt stones at her van. The actor stated that the party has threatened her of another violent attack.

Tanushree in an interview with PTI revealed that Raj Thackeray has been eyeing on Balasaheb Thackeray's chair, which he did not get and thus he had to send goons to break and prove himself above the Shiv Sena. “Nalayak people do this to be taken seriously,” added Tanushree. She said that it was very crystal clear to understand who the goons were. She probed the citizens that who usually holds the city to ransom. Tanushree alleged, “Who holds Mumbai to ransom and unleashes violence? Raj wanted to take over the Sena party after the death of Thackeray, but he did not get it. So he wanted to assert himself.”
Tanushree has alleged that the incident of sexual harassment took place in 2008, after which she was out of Bollywood and settled in the United States of America (USA). She confessed that she gained the confidence to speak up after the row of #MeToo movement was catching up across the globe.

Many Bollywood celebrities have taken a stand for Tanushree Dutta and supported her. When people criticised her and trolled her, she responded by saying, “Nobody in Bollywood speaks openly against these incidents. I live in the US and I have a green card. I have come on leave to India and will go back soon. However, people in Bollywood need to speak up.”
