The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a plea which sought an independent probe into the death of veteran film actress Sridevi.
Sunil Singh, in his petition, had raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding the Mr India actress’ death. He moved the apex court after the Delhi High Court rejected his plea.
Sunil had alleged that the Sadma actress had an insurance policy in her name in Oman, which could be payable only if she died in UAE.
A bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud dismissed the petition.
Sridevi breathed her last on February 24 after accidentally drowning inside a bathtub in her Dubai hotel suite. The Mom actress had gone to Dubai to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding with Antara Motiwala.
While her husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi Kapoor returned to India, the dancing diva stayed back at Dubai after the marriage. Sridevi was cremated with full state honours on February 28 in Mumbai’s Vile Parle crematorium.
