SWA And CINTAA To Address Cine Employee Issues Together
The Screenwriters Association (SWA) and Cine and Television Artistes Association (CINTAA) and coming together to address the issues the members face in the line of their work like sexual harassment, copyright, breach of contracts and others.
The two associations will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will compel the members of the associations to attend the hearings or else they won't receive any assistant for any personal grievances faced in future. Reported The Mumbai Mirror.
The decision by CINTAA and SWA comes in the wake of Alok Nath's refusal to respond to Indian Film and Television Directors Association (IFTDA) over writer director Vinta Nanda's allegations of rape during the #MeToo movement.
Both SWA and CINTAA are a part of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees but since the master organization also takes care of 22 other departments, they cannot address member issues individually.
"With a lot of members from both CINTAA and SWA turning producers, there are chances of conflict. The idea is for both associations to form joint committees to address complaints. Together, they will have more power, be respected and feared more." said Sushant Singh, general secretary, CINTAA.
