Actor Swara Bhasker, who is known for speaking her mind, has triggered a troll fest once again on social media after saying 'Mughals made India rich'. On Saturday, the Veere Di Wedding actress shared an old article on Twitter which argued that the Mughals, who came in as barbaric invaders, made India rich.Â
The article, by historian Rana Salvi also stated that even though the Mughals came to India as conquerors, they remained as Indians.

'Mughals came to India as conquerors but remained as Indians not colonists. They encouraged trade, developed roads, sea routes, ports & abolished taxes. Hindus were richest under them. Drain of wealth started with East India Co'

Meanwhile, historian Hindol Sengupta also contradicted the article and called it ‘completely nonsense’. He wrote: ''This is of course nonsense, and you would be particularly lacking in reading to believe anything as simplistic as this. In fact, most people in Mughal India were utterly, cripplingly poor even though of course a lot of wealth was concentrated in the hands of the monarchy and the nobility. One of the resounding and recurring facts of Mughal India were the devastating famines.''

Replying to him, Swara wrote, "I think what you describe is true of monarchy in general! I suggest you read the article first.."

However, the actor hasn't responded or tweeted to the trolls yet.
