The first look of Ajay Devgn starrer historical drama flick Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior is out. The film is based on the life of celebrated Maratha Subedar Taanaji Malusare who conquered the fortress of Kondana in the Battle of Sinhagad in the year 1670 AD with the help of his pet lizard. Helmed by Om Raut, Saif Ali Khan will be seen playing the antagonist in the flick. Director Om Raut shared the first look of the movie on social media and wrote, “Happy New Year!!! Har Har Mahadev!!! @ajaydevgn @TanhajiFilm’’.
In the first look, Ajay Devgn can be seen jumping from what looks like a gorge in the mountains along with the help of ropes along with his men. He is wearing dhoti, pagdi, kamarbandh and most of his face is covered with a cloth.
Speaking about his character in the film, Saif said, "My character is an anti-hero. As the director says, he happens to be on the wrong side. Filming this historical has been a fascinating experience. I get to don some amazing costumes and do sword-fighting sequences within the comforts of an air-conditioned floor in Film City’’.
‘’It was opposite to what I had experienced while shooting for Navdeep Singh's Hunter. The revenge saga has heavy action scenes, but I haven't got over it yet. I'm still shaking in the night like a war veteran who comes home, shell-shocked slightly’’, he added.
Apart from this Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, which is based on the life of Rani Laxmibai will also be released. His home production venture helicopter Eela featuring Kajol failed miserably at the box office.
