Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is doing exceptionally well at the box office. The film has collected Rs 100 crore in just six days of its release. Sharing the box office update, trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on Twitter, ''Tanhaji - AjayDevgn’s 100th film - hits Rs 100 cr today

This is Ajay's fifth consecutive film to cross the Rs 100 crore mark after De De Pyaar De (2019), Total Dhamaal (2019), Raid (2018) and Golmaal Again (2017). Tanhaji is also the first Rs 100 crore film for Saif Ali Khan after his 2013 film Race 2. Saif plays the role of the antagonist Uday Bhan, while Kajol is seen as Savitribai Mausare, wife of the great warrior Tanaji Malusare.
Set in the 17th centuary, the biographical film is based on the life of Tanaji Malusare, a military leader in the army of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Talking about the film, Ajay had earlier said, ''You have to be careful and honest to history. After from being careful, we followed the history. If someone asks us questions we can show that it is a part of history.'' "When you play the part of Tanhaji, who has been a such a big warrior hero, the responsibility is more. It is important you do not portray such characters wrongly," he added.

Ajay and Kajol shared the screen space after a gap of nine years.Their last film was Toonpur Ka Super Hero. Saif and Ajay were seen together in the Om Raut directorial after 12 years. They last collaborated in National Award-winning Omkara, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj.
Speaking about his character in the film, Saif had said, "My character is an anti-hero. As the director says, he happens to be on the wrong side. Filming this historical has been a fascinating experience. I get to don some amazing costumes and do sword-fighting sequences within the comforts of an air-conditioned floor in Film City’’. The cast also includes Pankaj Tripathi, Sharad Kelkar, Jagapathi Bab und Neha Sharma.
The film is being directed by Om Raut and produced jointly by T-Series and Ajay Devgn. It hit the screens on 10 January, 2020.
