The makers have finally released the official trailer of Om Raut’s period drama Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior. Featuring Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles, the trailer looks quite impressive and will surely leave you intrigued.
In the trailer, Ajay looks impressive as Tanaji, while Saif Ali Khan looks fierce as the Maratha warrior's nemesis Uday Bhan. Kajol, on the other hand, looks fearless as Savitribai Mausare, wife of the great warrior Tanaji Malusare. Packed with some impressive visuals, folk background music and action scenes, the trailer seems to have a lot to offer.
Set in the 17th centuary, the biographical film is based on the life of Tanaji Malusare, a military leader in the army of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
On Monday, Ajay had unveiled Kajol’s look on Instagram with the caption, ''Savitribai Malusare - Tanhaji ke saahas ka sahara... aur unke bal ki shakti.'' In the poster, she is seen in traditional Maharashtrian look with a nath and a bindi. The poster also features a man on his knees holding the Maratha flag erect.
Since last month, Ajay has shared individual posters of Saif as Uday Bhan, Sharad Kelkar as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Luke Kenny as Aurangzeb and Padmavati Rao as Jijabai.
Ajay and Kajol are coming together onscreen after a gap of nine years. Their last film was Toonpur Ka Super Hero. Saif and Ajay are set to be seen together in the Om Raut directorial after 12 years. They last collaborated in National Award-winning Omkara, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj.
Speaking about his character in the film, Saif had said, "My character is an anti-hero. As the director says, he happens to be on the wrong side. Filming this historical has been a fascinating experience. I get to don some amazing costumes and do sword-fighting sequences within the comforts of an air-conditioned floor in Film City’’.
The cast also includes Pankaj Tripathi, Sharad Kelkar, Jagapathi Bab und Neha Sharma. The film is being directed by Om Raut and produced jointly by T-Series and Ajay Devgn. It is slated to hit the screens on 10 January, 2020.
