After attracting controversy with his memoir, ‘An Ordinary Life’, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is once again in news. The talented Bollywood actor who is known for his choice of work was summoned by Thane Police last week in relation with the Call Detail Record case in January earlier this year.
The ‘Manjhi - The Mountain Man’ actor failed to adhere to the order on Friday as per police officials.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Abhishek Trimukhi while addressing media said that Siddiqui, his wife Sheeba and lawyer had been called for recording their statement after some of the arrested accused had told police that an advocate named Rizwan Siddiqui had obtained call records of the ‘Kahani’ actor’s wife from private detectives.
“Three arrested accused, Prasad Palekar, Jigar Makhwana and Ajinkya Nagargoje and informed the police that an advocate had obtained the CDRs of Siddiqui’s wife from private detectives. Hence to verify the same, we have summoned them,” Trimukhi said.
The CDR scam came into light on January 24 when Thane Police nabbed four private detectives from Kalwa. The police had identified the four as Prashant Palekar (49), Makesh Pandian (42), Samresh Jha (32) alias Pratik Mohpal and Jigar Makwana (35).
The four arrested detectives had revealed the name of renowned woman detective Rajani Pandit who was also arrested by the police.
Trimukhi added that 11 people had been arrested in the scam involving the illegal procurement of CDRs of private individuals.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui who was last seen in Babumoshai Bandookbaaz is currently prepping up for his upcoming film based on Balasaheb Thackeray’s life.
