Not every time does a movie creates such an impact that the government or the police force is forced to take action considering the cause it advocated. Anubhav Sinha’a movie on domestic abuse and how it is considered ‘normal’ in several affluent households has created such a stir in the Bollywood film industry and among the cinephiles that Rajasthan police were inspired to take an initiative to help women suffering abuse at their house.
Rajasthan police in a tweet mentioned that it has opened a helpline for abused women in which they can report cases of not just domestic violence but also mental torture. The tweet in Hindi says that domestic violence is ‘Thappad, Mental abuse id ‘Thappad’. They have urged people to call on the provided helpline numbers to inform the nearest police station regarding such cases. A picture of Taapsee Pannu from Thappad has also been added along with a tweet that reads, ‘just a slap par nahi mar sakta.’

According to the scheme, the government will give a pension of Rs 5000-6000 to the survivors so that they can live a life of dignity and help them achieve their dreams. The proposal in yet to be approved by the cabinet in order to be implemented.
