The much-anticipated trailer of The Accidental Prime Minister, starring Anupam Kher as the former Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, released yesterday. The film revolves around the life of Manmohan Singh, the economist who served as the Prime Minister for 10 years from 2004 to 2014.Â
The film has been generating a lot of buzz owing to the striking resemblance of its characters with the real life counterparts. Anupam Kher, who has tried to copy the mannerisms of Manmohan Singh, seems to have got it right for the most part.
In the film, Akshaye Khanna plays Sanjaya Baru who was the media advisor of Manmohan Singh. While German actor Suzanne Bernert plays Sonia Gandhi, Aahana Kumara will be seen as Priyanka Gandhi. Arjun Mathur plays Rahul Gandhi in The Accidental Prime Minister. The film is helmed by debutant Vijay Ratnakar Gutte.
As the movie is nearing its release date, we have listed five fire dialogues from the trailer:
Sanjay Baru (played by Akshaye Khanna): ‘’100 crore ki abaadi wale iss desh ko ye gine chune log chalate hain" (A handful of people run this country with a population of millions.)
Sanjay Baru (played by Akshaye Khanna): ‘'PM ke liye kaam karta hu, party ke liye nahi’’ (I work for the prime minister, not for the political party.)
Random party worker: "Par PM toh party ke liye kaam karte hai, Baru." (But the prime minister works for the party, Baru.)
Sanjay Baru (played by Akshaye Khanna): ‘’Yeh Nuclear deal ki ladayi…hamare liye toh Panipat ki ladai se bhi badi thi’’ (This fight for nuclear deal has been like Panipat’s fight for me.)
Sonia Gandhi: "Agar aap Pakistanke saath shaanti ka samjhauta karenge toh naye prime ministekya karenge?" (If you enter peaceful talks with Pakistan then what will the new prime minister do?) Â
Dr Manmohan Singh (played by Anupam Kher): "Mujhe koi credit nahi chahiye, mujhe apne kaam se matlab hai kyunki mere liye deshpehle aata hai." (I don't want any credit for myself, I am only concerned with my work because my country comes first.)Â Â
Sonia Gandhi: "Ek ke baad doosra corruption scandal...aise maahol mein Rahul (Gandhi) kaise takeover kar sakta hai?" (One corruption scandal after another...how can Rahul takeover as prime minister in this situation?)Â
