Salman Khan’s highly-awaited film, Bharat hit the screens today on the auspicious occasion of Eid. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film also stars Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani and Sunil Grover in prominent roles. However, this is not the first time when Bhai’s film is releasing on Eid. It was 10 years ago when Salman released his gangster drama Wanted on this festival, which opened to overwhelming response from the audiences and since then Salman has booked this day for the release of his films. So, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Eid and Salman Khan have become synonymous.

As Bharat released today, let’s take a look at other Salman Khan’s films that hit theatres on Eid and went on to become blockbusters.

1. Wanted (2010):


 Starring Salman Khan and Ayesha Takia in the lead roles, the film went on to become the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year. Directed by Prabhu Deva, the film was an official remake of Telugu film Pokiri. ‘Wanted’ gave a major boost to Salman’s career as before this he had major flops like God Tussi Great Ho and Yuvvraaj.

2. Dabangg (2010):


Based on the life and adventures of the firebrand cop Chulbul Panday, Salman Khan’s Dabangg became the highest grossing films of 2010 and also won several awards. Dabangg also marked the Bollywood debut of Sonakshi Sinha. The film was directed by Abhinav Kashyap and produced by Arbaaz Khan.

3. Bodyguard (2011):


 The film featured Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in prominent roles. Bodyguard was a huge commercial success and opened to positive reviews from both critics and audience alike. It also went on to become the highest opening day grosser. The film was a remake of 2010 Malayalam film of the same name starring Dileep and Nayantara.

4. Ek Tha Tiger (2012):


Directed by Kabir Khan and backed by Aditya Chopra, the movie revolves around a RAW agent who is sent to Dublin to observe an Indian scientist, suspected of sharing secrets with ISI. The movie was a huge success at the box-office. The film starred Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in pivotal roles.

5. Bajrangi Bhaaijaan (2015):


Starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Salman Khan, the film won millions of hearts with its perfect storyline and cast. The film Rs 300 crore at the box office.

6. Sultan (2016):


 Like every year, this Eid release of Salman Khan also got a bumper opening. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, this wrestling drama is one of the top five highest-grossing films ever. The film starred Anushka Sharma opposite Salman Khan.
