Last month the sequel to Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ was announced. Cinephiles were in for a movie-feast when reports surfaced that Khurrana was to play a gay character in the sequel given how the Andhadhun actor has gracefully and with ease proven to pull off nay onscreen characters he sings up for. While the 2017 Shubh Mangal Savdhaan touched the not-discussed often topic-erectile dysfunction, the second instalment will see Khurrana as a gay man. And if you are wondering which among the tinsel towners will be casted as Khurrana’s love interest in the gay love story, your question might have been answered.
An exclusive report from BollywoodLife reports that Jitendra Kumar, who is known for digital series like Permanent Roommates, TVF Pitchers, Kota Factory has been part of several online comedy sketches, is likely to play Khurrana's gay partner.
"The character is of a small-town boy and the makers wanted to take an actor who can pull off the character with ease. The makers wanted a relatively fresh face and after doing the rounds of auditions, Jitendra fitted all the bills. Although he has not signed on the dotted line yet, he is the one," a source close to the entertainment website revealed.
Ayushmann Khurrana known to go under the costumes of the characters he plays onscreen shared his excitement for his role, "It is a beautiful story told in the quintessential Aanand L Rai style of filmmaking that will touch your hearts and leave a smile on your face." He further added, "It is one of the most brilliant films that I have read in a long time and it handles the subject of homosexuality really sensitively. It is a pleasure to collaborate again with the master storyteller of our times. It is an out and out entertaining film that will also make you think and that’s the hallmark of good cinema."
‘’While producer Aanand wants to take the franchise ahead which tackles sensitive subjects in a light-hearted manner, he said, "With ...Zyada Saavdhan, we have a great story in hand and who better, but Ayushmann to play the lead since he brings a whole new level of expression to the table. Hope audiences enjoy it as much as the first film."
Directed by Hitesh Kewalya and produced by Aanand L Rai, Shubh Mangal Zyaada Savdhaan will go on the floors this August.Â
