After much controversies and fanfare, 'Udta Punjab' finally hit the theatres on 17 June after the Supreme Court and the Punjab and Haryana High Court cleared the way for its release.
The Shahid Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starred film was the talk of the town and landed in trouble for its projection of Punjab’s drugs menace. The Censor Board demanded 89 cuts in the movie over excessive swearing and the use of the word ‘Punjab’. The board felt that the state was being showed in bad light. However, Twitterati's and celebrities on other social media have reacted in a positive way.
