New Delhi:

Vicky Kaushal starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike, one of the most anticipated movies of the year 2019 has succeeded in pumping up the ‘Josh’ in every movie fan! The film based on Surgical strikes made it big at the box office earning Rs 91 crore in its nine-day run in cinemas.

The film is likely supposed to enter the coveted Rs 100 crore-club today on Monday. Uri: The Surgical Strike has mostly received positive reviews and with the positive word-of-mouth, the movie is expected to churn out good at the box office in its second weekend.

"Uri: The Surgical Strike continues to make big noise at the box office. Should cross Rs. 100 crore mark today (Day 10)... Second Saturday is higher than first Sat (Rs. 12.43 crore) and almost double of second Friday... (Week 2) Friday Rs. 7.66 crore, Saturday Rs. 13.24 crore. Total: Rs. 91.84 crore (India business)," Taran Adarsh wrote.

While most of the films start turning lukewarm at the ticket windows on its second weekend, Uri: The Surgical Strike derived an extraordinary Rs 7.66 crore to be named among the list of Hindi films that made significant money on their second Fridays. The film’s gargantuan earnings in its second week has tossed away 2016 released, Salman Khan-starrer Sultan (Rs 7.43 crore) in its second-Friday earnings.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, it’s a revenge film from the word go. From gun battles, hand to hand combat scenes to precisely planned drones. Directed by Aditya Dhar, Uri: The Surgical Strike features Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal, Mohit Raina and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles.

The movie was released along Anupam Kher's political drama The Accidental Prime Minister but managed to hit the mark despite tough competition.
