Karan Johar's Kalank was one of the most anticipated films of the year. The film, which was released on April 17, tanked at the box office. Despite having a stellar star cast including Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Varun Dhawan and Sonakshi Sinha, the film failed to impress both critics and the audience. The film’s failure has hit its makers and its star cast hard. Varun Dhawan, who plays Zafar in Kalank, has finally opened up about the film's poor performance.
It is to be noted that Varun celebrated his 32nd birthday on 24th of this month. Since the actor was sad because of the film’s failure, his friends took him to Thailand for his birthday. In Thailand, the actor indulged in Muay Thai, Thai boxing, his favourite kind of martial arts.

But I am going to tell you how it all went down. I was a little down because my latest release did not go the way I thought it would and it did hit me a little hard, I will be very honest. I didn’t know how to react to it. A lot of people told me, ‘don’t show it’. I don’t know how to behave like that. Failures are a part of life. My friends though had my back.
