'Veere Di Wedding' banned in Pakistan over 'vulgar language'

Much to the disappointment of fans across the border, Bollywood's upcoming film Veere Di Wedding starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja has been banned by Pakistan's Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC), citing the use of "vulgar language".

All the censor board members unanimously decided to ban the film, which trailer is making waves among the fan population, according to Express Tribune.

"Veere Di Wedding was screened before the full board and all members were surprised to see such content being displayed. This film is not acceptable in our society due to its vulgarity and sexual dialogues spoken by the four girls and so, we decided to ban it," a senior CBFC official was quoted as saying by the publication.

The film's distributors also withdrew their application to release the film in Pakistan.

Also featuring Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania, the upcoming film is directed by Shashanka Ghosh.

The film, produced by Ekta Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, was scheduled to release on June 1.
