Sonam Kapoor is soon going to be the bride of the town as the lady is all set to tie the knot with her beau Anand Ahuja. Indeed, Sonam-Anand's marriage is going to be a big fat Punjabi wedding that the entire B-town is eagerly waiting for.
But as the preparations for the couple's D-Day are going on in full swing, there are speculations about if Sonam Kapoor will continue to work post wedding or will she quit the Bollywood.
So when the Neerja actress was quizzed about the same during the trailer launch of her upcoming movie Veere Di Wedding, her outstanding reply won all the hearts.
"There is very long way before it happens (changing of mindsets). People like Kareena are setting an example. She got married and then she was on the sets and after having a baby she was on the sets. Shahid Kapoor got married did anyone ask whether he will work or not. Nobody will ask this question to a man," Sonam was quoted as saying.
She further added, "This misogynistic mindset is what needs to change and hopefully with films like this things will change. We are hoping this film does well. It is important for this film to do well so that we as women will get our space. We can break the glass in some way or the other."
Sonam also spoke about Veere Di Wedding and has expressed high hopes for the movie, “I don’t think a film like this has been made before. It is entertaining and has everything from romance to drama. And why can’t a female headline a commercial film that is about girls which has a story? Things might change if this film works, I hope it brings about a change in the roles that are written for us.”
Helmed by Shashanka Ghosh, Veere Di Wedding also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shikha Talsania and Swara Bhaskar in lead role. The movie is slated to release on June 1.
