Earlier in December, the movie trailer was released by the makers. The two-and-half-minute trailer begins with a scene where it features how 19 unarmed Indian soldiers were martyred at the Uri Base Camp in Kashmir in the early hours of September 18, 2016. The attack was also called as ‘the deadliest attack in two decades’. The trailer also features veteran actor Paresh Rawal, who is playing the role of National Security Advisor of India, Ajit Doval.
Giving an insight into the Indian Army's surgical strikes on terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC), URI traces one of the most significant events of the history of the Indian Army. On September 18, 2016, 19 Indian soldiers were killed in an early morning attack by Pakistani terrorists at the 12 Infantry Brigade headquarters in Uri. In response, on September 29, the Indian Army's Special Forces carried out surgical strikes on terror launch pads across the LoC.
