Long before Vicky Kaushal’s Uri: The Surgical Strike became a household name among movie-goers, there were hidden gems like Masaan which many were not aware of until recently. While his role in movies like Raazi, Manmarziyaan, Sanju may have sealed Vicky Kaushal’s door as a Bollywood A-lister, the actor had always been a gem waiting to emerge.
Almost all actors have their own odd rituals when it comes to mastering for their roles, like how the legendary Heath Ledger would lock himself up in a hotel room to project one of the most loved villains like the Joker in Christopher Noal’s The Dark Knight. Vicky Kaushal, likewise also had a strange practise to master his roles according to IANS. The Uri star, strangely admits to ‘stalking’ so that he can be more ‘in to’ his different roles like the different people on the streets.
Vicky in an interview for GQ India's March 2019 issue said, "I'm a safe person. I'm that guy who has a favourite ice cream flavour, who'll go to the same ice cream parlour and order that one flavour he likes. When it comes to fashion, I'm more of a solids and stripes guy. If I even feel like experimenting, it will be with shoes or sunglasses - I'm a sucker for white sneakers. With my roles, though, I'm experimental. I don't like simple things, steady things, easy things. I want to make it complicated. I want layers, I want colours, I want shades’’.

He also added that while he is a ‘safe’ person he doesn’t mind experimenting with different roles onscreen. The Uri star adds, "Living in the moment is important. Also, observing people. No experience goes to waste as an actor. You meet people, talk to them, and their experiences become part of your database. I used to stalk people in Banaras (for 'Masaan'). Literally. If I found them interesting, I followed them, I watched them from across the street. I have so many videos of random people in Surat, whose body languages I used for the character of Kamli (in 'Sanju')’’.
His Uri which is at the 49-day run at the box-office, is all set to beat the lifetime collection of Simmba standing at Rs 237.36 crore.
