Renowned violinist Balabhaskar, who was critically injured in a road accident last month, passed away at a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday morning. He suffered a massiv cardiac arrest at 1 am, hospital sources said. He was 40. His two-year-old daughter Tejaswini had died soon after the accident.

Balabhaskar's wife Lakshmi was seriously injured and is undergoing treatment.
On September 25, when the family was travelling back from Thrissur where they had visited a temple, their car met with an accident. Balabhaskar suffered brain and spine injuries and underwent a series of surgeries since the accident in Pallipuram.
Balabhaskar's only daughter Tejaswani Bala was born 16 years after marriage.

His death has saddened thousands of his fans. Balabhaskar had composed music for Mangalyappallak, Panchajanyam, Paattinte Paalaazhi, Moksham, and Kannadikkadavath, among others. His albums Ninakkaay and Aadyamaay won many hearts.
