Great news for the fans of superstar Ajith Kumar, and not so good one for the fans of Prabhas!

Ajith’s Vivegam has done remarkable business in the first weekend at the Chennai box-office and has become the highest first weekend grosser of 2017 in the capital city of Tamil Nadu. And now the movie has entered the coveted Rs 100 crore club in the first weekend.

On the opening day, Vivegam raked in Rs 1.22 crore followed by Rs 1.51 crore on the second day and made Rs 5.75 crore in the first weekend. Trade pundits say the increase in the footfall is largely due to the Ganesh Chaturthi festival holiday.

With this feat, Vivegam has now beaten the record of SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2, which collected Rs 3.24 crore in a three-day first weekend while the three-day collection of Ajith's film stands at Rs 4.28 crore.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala took it to micro-blogging site Twitter, to share the first weekend collection of the movie. He wrote, "#Vivegam 1st Weekend (Aug 24th - 27th) WW BO: #India - ₹ 69.50 Cr Overseas - ₹ 36.50 Cr Total - ₹ 106 Cr A Non-Rajini/Shankar Record!"

Vivegam has not only performed well in Chennai but across Tamil Nadu where the first-weekend gross is estimated to be over Rs 60 crore.

In Bengaluru and parts of Kerala too the film has done pretty well and also in the US and Malaysia.

A major portion of the film has been shot in Slovenia and the movie released worldwide on 24 August.

Directed by Siva, Vivegam features Ajith Kumar, Vivek Oberoi, Kajal Aggarwal, and Akshara Haasan.
