Article 15 director Anubhav Sinha who has earlier expressed his disappointment with the three Khans of Bollywood over their silence on a new citizenship law that has triggered widespread protests in India recently reasoned why they choose not to speak for in celebs roundtable interview.

Talking to Quint about film industry professionals’ responsibility to speak up at such times of political turmoil, Sinha said he does not think Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan and ever talk about CAA refering to the times when the ‘Badshah’ actor faced backlash over his ‘intolerance’ comment and Aamir losing a commercial contract over his ‘Benign’ story about his wife.
Taking sly dig on their selective participation owning to commercial reasons Sinha said “I am not talking about them losing contracts, which is fine as they can afford to lose them, only people who get trolled so viciously will only understand. Suddenly you are identified with your religion. So, I fully understand when they can’t and they shouldn’t. But the rest of the industry, they have not been watching TV shows, So I am angry about it and there should be more people talking about it.”
Talking about why the onus is only on Bollywood celebs to criticise the ruling establishment and not on entrepreneurs or industrialists and if they are failing the people of the country through their silence, Sinha said, “I sort of agree that people should have a right to their silence, but that is under ordinary circumstances. But these are no ordinary circumstances.
Shah Rukh Khan, who commands a following of 39 million on Twitter, has earlier worked with the filmmaker in Ra One. Khan has also rubbed shoulders with Modi previously during Gandhi Jayanti. Reports suggest Piyush Gopal will host a dinner for Bollywood stalwarts to discuss CAA.
While a number of Bollywood names have spoken out, from Farhan Akhtar, Parineeti Chopra, Alia Bhatt, and Rajkummar Rao to Varun Dhawan, Sidhart Malhotra, Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal, industry royalty has remained silent.
