She is now one of the highest-paid Indian actresses and has made the leap from Bollywood movies such as Om Shanti Omand Chennai Express to Hollywood titles including xXx: Return of Xander Cage last year. Several fringe outfits including Rajput Karni Sena staged protest against the Deepika Padukone starrer across the country. They accused Bhansali of distorting historical facts in the flick.

However, after a lot of fracas over its controversial story line, Padmaavat finally hit the theatres on January 25, 2018. The movie also stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in pivotal roles.
