A form of madness gripped the country this year. This hellish year, 2018, has inspired the sheer deluge of online creativity. Fed and watered by criticism and chaos, memes on the internet grew strong and flowered. Among thousands of funny pills that tickled our bones, we found some real beauties – here they are:

January: Anant Ambani meme

While mother, Neeta Ambani couldn’t get over appreciating Anant Ambani’s energetic speech, Netizens saw him as a potential first meme of the year 2018. Everyone started laughing at Anant Ambani's speech while he laughed at everyone's bank accounts. (pun intended).  From AIB to EIC, everyone had their creative juices mixed up with Ambani video, and the results were enough to give us nightmares.

February: Priya Prakash Warrior

In February, a seemingly unknown face took over the internet. Right before Valentine’s Day, everyone had found the love of their life in this winking beauty. Priya's expressions where she raises her eyebrows, smiles, winks and blushes in the video, melted many ‘Sakht Laundas’ all over the country. And since everything that goes viral, trollers were quick to turn it into a meme.

March: Anushka Sharma as 'Pari'

As Anushka released the poster of her film, Pari, planning to scare a few, but Tweeple did what they are best at. Fans soon gave the poster the Photoshop treatment and some crazy edits were soon available on the Internet. Many even didn’t spare Anushka’s hubby Virat Kohli and the memes that flooded the social media portals are worth looking at.

April: Thanos Memes

May: Chai pi lo Aunty

Somavati Mahawar or the ‘Chai Pi Lo’ aunty made her official Instagram debut in May and all hell broke loose. This lady intrigued everyone since she requested everyone to drink tea and nobody knew why. Sooner, we realised that the tea invitation was just the tip of the iceberg though as she had many more hidden talents in her arsenal. The woman became a meme sensation to an extent that if you don’t say ‘chai pilo’ in a tone similar to her, you’re LYING! Watch her funny antics:

June: Daisy Shah as businesswoman

This year on Eid, Salman Khan came up with Race 3 trailer. One particular dialogue from the trailer where Daisy Shah says, “Our business is our business, none of your business” literally cracked up the internet. Twitterati has had a field day trolling the actress and the Salman Khan starrer big time. The quote went down in history when Twitter users made a pseudo account with the name ‘businesswoman’ and Daisy shah’s profile picture.

July: Rahul Gandhi wink

Rahul Gandhi's surprise gesture to hug Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha after his speech during the no-confidence debate and a playful wink had Twitter abuzz in July.  Twitter users took no time in drawing a parallel between the Congress president and Malayalam actor Priya Prakash Varrier who became an internet sensation and the Internet lost it in wink vs wink.

August: Sacred Games

Netflix’s Sacred Games released in August and everyone couldn’t stop raving about it on Twitter, Facebook and elsewhere. The netizens cannot get over Nawazuddin’s aura as Gaitonde. So much so, that we had hilarious memes on it. we have compiled the funniest of them for you right here:

September: Anushka Sui Dhaaga

Trailer for Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan’s film Sui Dhaaga released and Twitterati particularly seems hooked to a scene where Anushka Sharma is seen in tears raising her hand. In no time, the trollers made way for innumerable memes, featuring Anushka Sharma, who plays a simple village woman named Mamta. The meme that dominated social media deserves a look back:

October: UP Police 'Thain Thain'

In October, UP Police did something more epic which was making people go ‘Thain Thain’. Two cops from UP decided to shout 'Thain Thain' to scare the goons after their pistols jammed and their weird tactic became an overnight hit and fodder for hilarious memes.

November: Wedding memes

It was officially the wedding season for Bollywood in November with Deepveer’s wedding. While some felt the photos from the Mehendi and wedding ceremonies gave them goals, others came up with hilarious captions.  Also, Deepveer fans were eagerly waiting for the pictures and that too gave rise to a crazy meme fest on Twitter.
