New Year is around the corner and it’s almost time for us to bid goodbye to 2018. The year, was undoubtedly an extremely eventful year, both films wise and otherwise. Talking about the films, this year gave us some very interesting line-up of films. While Padmaavat told a historic tale in a grand manner, Raazi told a story unheard and some others were totally out of the box. As we are set to enter into a New Year, here are the top 11 Bollywood films that you can’t afford to miss:

Padmaavat:

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in pivotal roles was a major hit at the box-office. Ranveer Singh played the character of Alauddin Khilji, Deepika Padukone played the role of Rani Padmavati and Shahid Kapoor essayed the character of Raja Rawal Ratan Singh. The film received a lot of adulation by the audience and critics alike. The film went on to gross above Rs 300 crore approximately.

Raazi:



In the film, Alia Bhatt played the role of Sehmat, an Indian spy who is married to a Pakistani officer. The actress was applauded for her outstanding performance in the film. While the movie completely focuses on Sehmat’s devotion towards her nation, there is an untold love story which has been revealed in the novel.The film also starred Vicky Kaushal in a vital role.

Sanju:



Rajkumar Hirani delivered one of the biggest hits of Bollywood in 2018 with actor Sanjay Dutt’s biopic starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role. The film had an ensemble star cast which included Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Vicky Kaushal, Anushka Sharma, Jim Sarbh, Dia Mirza and many others. It gained praise from all quarters.

Veere Di Wedding:



Shashank Gosh’s film, Veere Di Wedding was truly a breath of fresh air for the audience in 2018. Apart from the stupendous cast and perfect storyline which revolved around Kareena Kapoor’s aka Kalindi’s wedding, fans were also smitten by the fresh pairing of Sumeet Vyas and Kareena in the film. Apart from Kareena, the film also starred Sonam K Ahuja, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania. 

Badhaai Ho:



After Vicky Donor and Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan, Ayushmann Khurrana impressed the audience in 2018 once again with his quirky family drama ‘Badhaai Ho’. Badhaai Ho is a coming of age family drama. Ayushmann’s mother gets pregnant and his whole life turns upside down. Right from dealing with social embarrassment to coming to terms with his parents’ active sex life, the film is a total fun ride. Badhaai Ho also features actors like Sanya Malhotra, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao and Surekha Sikri.Made over a budget of Rs 29 crore, the film grossed over Rs 221 crore at the box-office.

Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety:



The hit combination of Luv Ranjan and Kartik Aaryan worked wonders at the box-office once again this year. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety became one of the highest grosser of 2018. Apart from Kartik Aaryan, the film starred Sunny Singh, Nushrat Bharucha and Ishita Raj Sharma in pivotal roles.

Gold:



Akshay Kumar delivered a powerful performance in Gold. The film took the audience back in time to witness a team’s struggle to make India proud. The film boasted of an ensemble cast including Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Singh, and Sunny Kaushal, apart from Akshay Kumar. It also marks the big screen debut of TV sensation Mouni Roy. Gold was shot across UK and India, capturing the fascinating aspects of the pre-Independence era.

Padman:



The film, starring Akshay Kumar in a lead role, threw light on the menstrual sanitation among women. The film was highly hailed for its subject and performances by the actors. The film is the biopic of a real-life hero Arunachalam Muruganantham who made a pad-making machine for women to provide them low-cost sanitary napkins. Along with Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte also played a vital role in the film.

Stree:



Dinesh Vijan experimented with comedy-horror and surprisingly it was exceptionally good! Titled, Stree, the film starred Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and others. The film was based around an Indian urban legend Nale Ba, about a spirit who knocks on people’s doors at night. A good script with some exceptional actors led to the success of the film.

Andhadhun:

Ayushmann Khurrana played a pianist who pretends to be blind to ‘fine tune’ his artistic sensibilities until a twist of fate lands him in the middle of a murder investigation. Director Sriram Raghavan toyed with us throughout this delicious thriller, daring us to look away. The movie also starred Tabu in a leading role.Made on a production budget of Rs 32 crore, the film grossed over Rs 111 core at the box-office.  

Raid:



The film stars Ajay Devgn, Illeana D’Cruz and Saurabh Shukla in vital roles. It was released worldwide on 16 March, 2018 with positive reviews from fans and critics alike. The film is inspired by the real life income-tax raid conducted by the officers of the Income Tax Department under the leadership of a courageous and upright Indian Revenue Officer in the 1980s.
