Indian cinema is gearing up for the release of Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, with Yash’s upcoming film topping IMDb’s list of India’s most anticipated movies at a 28 per cent real-time popularity score.
Interest in the project rose further after Yash unveiled the film’s teaser on his birthday. The glimpse introduced him as Raya in a stylised gangster role and hinted at a darker, genre-driven narrative. What initially appeared to be a playful title was positioned through the teaser as a statement-driven project with a distinct visual tone.
The teaser stood out for its international visual treatment and VFX-heavy presentation, indicating that the film aims beyond conventional commercial frameworks rather than functioning solely as a star vehicle.
The film features an ensemble cast including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tara Sutaria, suggesting a multi-character-driven narrative.
On the technical front, the film brings together National Award-winning cinematographer Rajeev Ravi, composer Ravi Basrur, editor Ujwal Kulkarni, and production designer TP Abid. Action sequences are choreographed by Hollywood action director JJ Perry (John Wick), alongside National Award-winning action directors Anbariv and Kecha Khamphakdee.
Written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas and directed by Mohandas, Toxic has been shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions planned in multiple languages.
Produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash, the film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 19 March 2026, coinciding with Eid, Ugadi, and Gudi Padwa.
