Cinema accidentally plays ‘The Curse of La Llorona’ instead of ‘Detective Pikachu’ (Photo: Instagram)
Kids in cinema who turned up to watch the Ryan Reynolds starrer Detective Pikachu only to be shown a horror movie about a mother who kills her own children in The Curse of La Llorona in a dark twist of events could be one of the most scarring mistakes ever. The kids who along with their parents had gone for the Pokémon movie in Canada on May 10 were left in tears when the ‘watch’ went horribly awry as the horror movie The Curse of La Llorona started to come on instead of the fluffy Pikachu.
Ryan George, who works at film site ScreenRant and was present when the filmy-mistake took place live-tweeted the whole debacle, explaining that question-marks started popping when the trailers didn't seem particularly appropriate for preceding Detective Pikachu, that saw Reynolds voicing the fluffy Pokémon favourite.
In his tweet he wrote that eyebrows started raising when the cinema started showing a bunch of all the horror-flicks lined up as trailers for the poor children. The not-so kids friendly trailers had Annabelle Comes Home, Joker and Child's Play shown beforehand The Curse of La Llorona was shown as the feature presentation.
In a series of tweets, he wrote: "The theatre I'm in is playing a trailer for Annabelle Comes Home before Detective Pikachu LOOK AWAY CHILDREN OH NO.

After complaints from the parents, the cinema turned the film off and moved them to another screen where Detective Pikachu was being shown.
