2018 Golden Globe Awards: Meryl Streep makes history as she becomes most nominated actor

In the 75-year history of the Golden Globe awards, Hollywood superstar Meryl Streep has made another history by bagging her 31st Golden Globe nomination, which is a record in itself. 

Streep won the nomination for ‘The Post’ in the category Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture: Drama for her portrayal of the Washington Post publisher Kay Graham in Steven Spielberg's journalism drama.  

The nominations were announced on Monday. 

Apart from Meryl Streep, other notable nominees include: 

Tom Hanks (Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama, for The Post) 

Hugh Jackman, (Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical, for The Greatest Showman)

Mary J Blige (Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture and Best Original Song for Mudbound)

Ridley Scott (Best Director for All the Money in the World)

Emma Stone (Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical for Battle of the Sexes)

Reacting to her nomination, Streep said, “I’m thrilled for the movie, for Steven and Tom, and for the incredible ensemble of actors who made this movie need its moment in history. Thanks HFPA.”

Streep's first Golden Globe nomination was in the Best Supporting Actress category for the 1978 film The Deer Hunter.

The 75th Golden Globe Awards will broadcast live on January 7, 2018, and hosted by Seth Meyers.
