After a shocking goof up in the announcement of the Best Picture award at the 89th Academy awards 2017, the Oscars auditors have apologised and have released a statement for the same.
Oscars auditors PriceWaterhouseCoopers in the apology statement said that they sincerely apologise to the Moonlight, La La Land, producers of both the films and the oscar viewers for the mix-up.
Explaining the reason behind the mistake, the auditors said that the presenters were handed over the wrong category envelope which featured La La Land's name.

The statement further read that the mistake was recognised and correctly immediately and an inquiry is underway on how this could have happened.
