Disney’s classic, Aladdin remake starring Will Smith as the good-old Genie, Mena Massoud as the nominal street urchin of Agrabah and Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine is finally out. The first look shows the three stars on the cover of Entertainment’s Weekly First Look issue in their Aladdin attire, with Smith donning a goatee, ponytail, and a singular earring. Having starred in action flicks such as Men in Black, Bad Boys sequel, Will Smith stated that his role as the ‘genie stuck in a lamp’ had been 'terrifying'. Smith also stated that the iconic genie role which had been played by Robin Williams in 1992 was challenging. He, however, was also confident that he could give the Genie his own flair by tapping into past roles. “I think it’ll stand out as unique even in the Disney world,” Smith says. “There hasn’t been a lot of that hip-hop flavor in Disney history.”

Director Guy Richie says that for Smith’s genie role, he wanted him to have an imposing, but not overly buff appearance. “I wanted a muscular 1970s dad,” he says. “He was big enough to feel like a force — not so muscular that he looked like he was counting his calories, but formidable enough to look like you knew when he was in the room.
