Singer Alicia Keys will be hosting the 2019 Grammy Awards. The 37-year-old singer made the announcement on her social media channels with a behind-the-scenes video.
“IT’S OFFICIAL! 15-time GRAMMY winner @AliciaKeys will host the 61st #GRAMMYs, marking her first time as master of ceremonies for Music’s Biggest Night,” announced the official Grammys Twitter account.
The awards are scheduled to happen on February 11. Recently, Actors Nicole Kidman, Amy Poehler, Jessica Chastain and Sam Rockwell have been announced as the presenters for 2019 Golden Globe Awards. Apart from this, there were also reports which involves largest actor union in the United States of allegedly accusing the organisers of the Oscars for trying to intimidate celebrities not to present the rival award shows.
The SAG said in a statement that the apparent attempt by the Academy to keep our members from presenting on their own awards show is utterly outrageous and unacceptable.
“Actors should be free to accept any offer to participate in industry celebrations,” it added.
Meanwhile, the organisers of the show are leaving no stone unturned in revamping the ratings for the awards shows and the red carpets in January and February which touched its all-time low in the year 2018.
The US television viewership for the 2018 Oscars hit an all-time low with 26.5 million viewers and decided to cut down the award show by 30 minutes by handling few awards during the commercial breaks. Meanwhile, the nominations of the 2019 Oscars will be announced on January 22.
