While fans look forward to seeing Angelina Jolie as Thena in her first Marvel outing in ‘The Eternals’, a new plagiarism accusation has been brought forth by her former employee. Antoinette Abbamonte, who worked for Jolie from 2016 to 2019 accused the Oscar winning actress of stealing her idea, Makkari, a deaf character, which Jolie introduced in the upcoming Marvels' 'The Eternals'.
Speaking to Daily Mail, Abbamonte claims that the character Makkari in “The Eternals” which will be played by “The Walking Dead” star Lauren Ridloff shared same traits as the character she had created. She further revealed that she mentioned her superhero idea to Jolie which to her surprise made an appearance in Jolie’s The Eternals.
Abbamonte reportedly emailed Jolie to ask if the actress stole her idea to which Jolie is reported to have written back,
“The universe works in mysterious ways’’
“She treated me like a second-class citizen. That’s how I feel and I want to announce to the world that you can’t treat deaf people like that. She completely wrote me off,” Abbamonte said.
Abbamonte’s attorney, Michael Ahmadshahid, Ph.D have sent an official demand letter to Jolie’s team to give credit to Abbamonte’s idea and to compensate her for it.
Jolie and her team are yet to responded to Abbamonte. She was in fact, spotted taking a break from the set of “The Eternals” to dine at the lavish Greek restaurant Estiatorio Milos in London on Sunday.
