The sequel to the Jolie-Elle Fanning fantasy movie of 2014 has been titled Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. Disney revealed on Wednesday, its first new poster and a fresh release date. The villain-focused which is a riff from the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale story is now scheduled to release on October 18 of this year, instead of its earlier original date of May 2020.
Maleficent 2, apart from Angelina Jolie in the main lead will be joined by the same actress Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora, as well as Michelle Pfeiffer as Queen Ingrith. Other actors include Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ed Skrein, Robert Lindsay and Harris Dickinson. Directed by Joachim Rønning, Mistress of Evil is being written by Linda Woolverton, Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster.

As per Screenrant, the synopsis of the movie states, ‘’ A fantasy adventure that picks up several years after “Maleficent,†in which audiences learned of the events that hardened the heart of Disney’s most notorious villain and drove her to curse a baby Princess Aurora, “Maleficent II†continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy (Angelina Jolie) and the soon to be Queen (Elle Fanning), as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within.’’
