For the first time, the Disney Channel is going to come up with a gay storyline in its show “Andi Mack”, the channel confirmed on Thursday.
The show will be aired on Friday in the US. In this one-hour season two premiere show, best friends Andi (Peyton Elizabeth Lee) and Cyrus (Joshua Rush) will admit that they both are attracted to the same boy.
The show, which is created by ‘Sex and the City’ writer Terri Minsky, revolves around the life of 13-year-old girl Andi.
Speaking on the storyline, a Disney Channel spokeswoman said “Andi Mack is a story about tweens figuring out who they are.”
In the season opener, Andi is hoping for her parents to get married as she sorts out her feelings for classmate Jonah.
Meanwhile Cyrus, also 13, begins to realize he also has feelings for Jonah, beginning a journey to self-discovery and self-acceptance as a gay teenager.
