As a send-off to the 42-year-old saga, Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker was not met with much fervour by Lucas fans as the wait they had endured. Given the huge cult-like following which Marvels’ Avengers have equally acquired, cinephiles couldn’t help but compare the two send-offs given how Russo Brother’s Endgame did exceedingly well at the box-office and movie lovers. Three days post its release, TROS have witnessed a dwindling review from movie-goers and now some fans have even gone as afar as to think that TROS is a rip-off of Endgame.
Comparing the final battle scene of Endgame to that of Rey and Kylo Ren’s battle, a Reddit user questioned, "Anyone else notice how the final space battle played out like the final battle of Avengers: Endgame? With all the ships (returning characters) popping in on screen all together?
"And then there is the semi final REY moment where I literally ruined a line cuz I knew it was coming... She looks at Palpatine and says 'I... AM...'
"I literally said out loud 'Iron Man!' (I mean more like under my breath
"I just thought the movie was fun, but rushed and compressed to hurry up and close whatever plots from 7 and 8... I just couldn't get over the Avengers: Endgame comparisons lol."
Agreeing to the comparison, a user replied to the thread, "Oh yeah. When Lando comes to the rescue I immediately thought of Falcon and Captain America."
starwars mini spoiler incoming
............ it was literally avengers endgame recycled— Aiyoklako (@aiyolapo) December 18, 2019
There’s a scene in the new Star Wars where the villain says “I am _____” and then Rey answers with “And I...am _______”
In the theater I reached to my friend and said “Iron Man”
But this got me thinking; is there a chance TROS was reshot to be more like Endgame; it felt like it— RGS (@okitsRGS) December 22, 2019
With Disney now owing Lucasfilms, one user thinks that both TROS and Endgame are basically produced by the same company, "I honestly don't think the movie was rushed and as for the similarities, they're made by the same overall company’’ the user wrote.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker brought in $373.5 million (about Rs. 2,657 crores) worldwide on its opening weekend, making it the weakest opener in the new trilogy.
