The post caught Apple's attention

Fiona Apple has reached out to Sinead O'Connor on social media after she posted a disturbing video on Facebook, saying she was "suicidal".

In the clip, posted on August 7 from the Travelodge in New Jersey where O'Connor claimed she was living, the singer said, "Three illnesses made me suicidal... My whole life is revolving around just not dying. And I'm not going to die, I'm not going to die but still this is no way for people to be living."

The post caught Apple's attention and the "Criminal" hitmaker shared her own video to let O'Connor know that she was her "hero".

"Hello Sinead O' Connor, I'm Fiona Apple. I want you to know that you are my hero as well and, I just saw the video of you and I don't want you to feel like that.

"You've given so much and I wish I could be there. I wish I could be of some use to you. I wish I could... I just... I'm your friend. That's all I wanna say. And you're my hero," Apple said.
