Actor Matthew Perry has revealed that he spent last three months at a hospital. In August, the 49-year-old actor, best known for playing Chandler Bing on Friends, underwent gastrointestinal surgery at a Los Angeles medical center to repair a gastrointestinal perforation, aka a ruptured bowel. The condition is life-threatening.

The Friends alum took to Twitter to share the news."Three months in a hospital bed. Check," Perry wrote a tweet laced with his signature acerbic sense of humour.

The post comes barely a month after the actor underwent a gastrointestinal perforation surgery at a medical facility here.

In terms of medicine, a gastrointestinal perforation means that a hole appeared somewhere in his gastrointestinal system, possibly from some other unrelated health issue or trauma, and the whole thing can lead to various life-threatening infections if left untreated.

People magazine reported Saturday that Perry was heading home after his recent hospitalisation.

The actor has been open about his health struggles in the past, including his years-long battle with alcohol and Vicodin.
