The moment is here! First episode of the Game of Thrones Season 8 is out and we are still reeling under the after-shocks! In case you are not a GOT fan, this is your moment to become one. In case you are a GOT fan, please note that this review contains spoilers. We are going to talk about everything happening at Winterfell. So, this is your last warning, walk away if you don’t want any spoiler. Are you sure you do want to know about the first episode? Okay, we did warn you, here we go:
First thing first, Sansa, the Lady of Winterfell HATES Daenerys Targaryen! Yup, you read it right. The undercurrent of tension between Jon Snow’s sister and her aunt/lover are out there in not-so-subtle way. What we loved the most was the brief conversation between Lady of Winterfell and her once-upon-a-time husband Tyrion Lannister. Peter Dinklage lifts up the most mundane moments and leave the viewers asking for more. The romantics in you would love to see more of this couple, if we may call them!
RELATED
Scene at King’s Landing is bit gloomy. Without her brother Jamie by her side, Cersei Lannister is plotting something and we don’t know yet if she will fight the final war or not. Another brother-sister duo of the House Grejoy showed us that some bonds are forever. Theon is on his way to Winterfell with Yara’s wishes.
But, but, but….these are just the atmospherics! The episode 1 was all about setting the tone and the theme of this season. What was THE moment of the episode was conversation between Samwell Tarly and Jon Snow. No, we won’t tell you what it was. Go watch it yourself, just make sure you don’t bust a nerve in your brain! And while we are at it, this episode was far away from explicit scenes that had become the mainstay of the GOT franchise. Apart from a tender kiss between Khaleesi and Jon, the episode is largely clean (if we can so so). And yes, we are leaving you with one little detail. Finally, yes FINALLY Jon rode the dragon!!
