Just hours after Variety reported that Robert Pattinson is expected to take over Ben Affleck’s role as the caped crusader Batman in Matt Reeves’s The Batman, DC went into a frenzy both for the best and worse. Even provided the fact that there hasn’t been official confirmation from Warner Bros., DC fans have wasted no time to follow suit of the petition for the Game of Thrones 8 disheartened fans who demanded a remake of the whole season which was plagued by a series of gaffes and criticised for a confusing plotline.
Multiple petitions have in fact shoot up demanding that Warner Bros. replace Pattinson as Batman and that he better hand over the keys to the Batmobile.
One petition wrote to Warner Bros, ‘Don’t make the Batfleck mistake again. Don’t do it. For the love of all that is holy, stop trashing the DC Universe.
While another wrote, ‘’There’s no way Robert Pattinson should play Batman. This is a complete joke! This would be the worst casting ever for the dark knight.’’
With a role as iconic as Batman, there will always be a divide for the caped-crusader cast be it Robert Pattinson or the once rumoured Armie Hammer ‘in talks for Batman’ or Nicholas Hoult, who is on shortlist alongside Pattinson. For as much as there are fans who are not in favour of Pattison as Batman, there are fans who overlook Pattinson beyond his icy role as the vampire Edward Cullen acknowledging his critically- acclaimed movies like Cosmopolis (2012) and The Rover (2014), deeming him fit to be in line as the next Bruce Wayne.
If you asked me 10 years ago if I would be defending Robert Pattinson's abilities as an actor, I'd say you're crazy.
But guys, he actually is. Good Time is one of my favorite movies of the decade. He's so. Fucking. Great. In it.
Give it a chance. The dude has chops. pic.twitter.com/PtHykAm1hw— dillon (@DillonM_81) May 17, 2019
Robert Pattinson as Batman is phenomenal casting. One of the hardest working actors today. If you've written him off, please watch Good Time and come back to me. pic.twitter.com/ystyLrIuYM
